Online game explores sea level rise concerns

Sea Level Rise

An online Los Angeles Times article, posted 7/7/2019, describes the favorable weather of “sea level rise suppression” which has encouraged waterfront development.

Conditions are likely to change. The article reports that sea level rise has been less than 9 inches over the past century. By the year 2100, that could exceed 9 feet.[1] An online game accompanying the article presents the challenge of a 3-foot sea rise within 30 years. It interactively explains benefits and consequences of current options for protecting oceanfront homes and businesses.[2]

To explore some of the options and learn what might happen based on those choices, take a few minutes and try the online game from LATimes.com.
